A - ARTICLE Prime Minister in corruption scandal News has leaked about the alleged involvement of the prime minister in the corruption scandal that in recent days has seen many exponents of our political scenario as protagonists. Following the recent developments in the investigation, it would seem, therefore, that even the prime minister is implicated in the scandal that many now call "Italy's shame". The prime minister would presumably have covered the sending of bribes which, through a long series of nominees, would refer to the Calabrian underworld and which, if confirmed, would also have favoured the premier's victory in last autumn's elections. The prime minister, quoted by one of the witnesses, was allegedly taken from his summer residence around 10 yesterday morning and accompanied by agents to the Milan police district as a "person with knowledge of the facts" and subjected to a long interrogation that lasted no less than 6 hours, according to what was leaked. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide further details about the elements that emerged during the interrogation, but we are confident that we will be able to communicate further updates in the next few hours. During the press conference called in order to reassure the country, the prime minister declared his complete extraneousness to the facts but assured his full cooperation with the judiciary so that the investigations can proceed in the direction of the real perpetrators of the scandal that filled the newspapers from all over Europe. It is certainly not the first time that we have heard of corruption in our country but never a scandal of this magnitude had stained the pages of our newspapers. We trust that the investigations can lead to bring out the truth in a little time because this scandal in addition to tarnishing our reputation in the world makes us fear for the stability of our beloved democracy. A seguito dei recenti sviluppi nelle indagini, sembrerebbe, dunque, che persino il primo ministro sia implicato nello scandalo che ormai molti chiamano “Vergogna d’Italia”. Il primo ministro avrebbe, presumibilmente, coperto l’invio di tangenti che attraverso una lunga serie di prestanomi farebbero capo alla malavita calabrese e che, qualora fosse confermato, avrebbero anche favorito la vittoria del premier nelle elezioni dello scorso autunno. Il primo ministro, citato da uno dei testimoni, sarebbe stato prelevato dalla sua residenza estiva, ieri mattina intorno alle 10 e accompagnato dagli agenti al distretto di polizia di Milano in qualità di “persona a conoscenza dei fatti” e sottoposto ad un lungo interrogatorio durato non meno di 6 ore, secondo quanto trapelato. Non siamo, purtroppo, in grado di fornire ulteriori dettagli circa gli elementi emersi durante l’interrogatorio ma siamo certi di poter comunicare ulteriori aggiornamenti nelle prossime ore. Durante la conferenza stampa indetta al fine di tranquillizzare il Paese, il primo ministro ha dichiarato la sua completa estraneità ai fatti ma ha assicurato la sua piena collaborazione con la magistratura affinché le indagini possano procedere in direzione dei veri responsabili dello scandalo che ha riempito le testate giornalistiche di tutta Europa. Non è certo la prima volta che sentiamo parlare di corruzione nel nostro Paese ma mai uno scandalo di questa entità aveva macchiato le pagine dei nostri giornali. Confidiamo che le indagini possano portare a far emergere la verità in tempi brevi perché questo scandalo oltre a macchiare la nostra reputazione nel mondo ci fa temere per la stabilità della nostra amata democrazia.
