IL CUORE GOURMET SHOP
Nestled alongside picturesque Piazza San Giusto,
within the historic walls of Lucca you will find Gourmet
shop Il Cuore (The Heart). The carefully curated legacy,
and family business for generations, now overseen by
Carlo and Cristina. This lovingly managed specialty
shop features wines, gourmet products, artisanal
cheeses and Lucchese goodies hand picked by the
owners, who follow in the footsteps of its founders and
grandparents Tina & Mario Banducci.
Il Cuore Gourmet Shop is home to Lucca’s most sought
after delicacies. In addition to the shop, the Cuore Bistro
outside, facing the piazza, is a charming place to sip
prosecco under umbrellas Italian Style, or sample the
shop offerings or homemade pastas, risottos, salads
and in house desserts and pastries.
With the passion of a Chef and gourmet enthusiasts
behind it, Il Cuore has grown to represent the finest in
Lucca catering, table service, and now, in collaboration
with Chef Giuseppe, Il Cuore brings you the secrets of
Tuscan cuisine and products with its one day cooking
classes. The classes are hosted in an exclusive Palazzo
on a tiny, winding alley in the heart of the city, offering
guests an intimate and privileged peek at palace living.
Alternatively, for larger groups we offer a full day in the
countryside in a remarkable private villa , open only to Il
Cuore and her students for a behind the scenes class,
and leisurely day in the villas grounds.
Whichever your desired experience, menus tailored to
your liking, featuring the local products and specialties
will be the highlight of your day, culminating in a feast to
be enjoyed by all, paired with Tuscan wines.

HALF DAY CLASS
Includes gourmet shop product tasting, hands on
cooking class, 3 course Tuscan meal
accompanied by prosecco and red wine, recipe

COOKING CLASSES
PIZZA AND GELATO CLASS
Includes three hour instruction of pizza and
gelato making. Includes finished product meal,
wine, recipe folder. 45 euros (kids half price)

SAMPLE CLASS MENUS
Chef Giuseppe has been nurtured by outstanding food
from an early age , as he was born at a Molino (Mill) in
the heart of Tuscany, where his grandfather operated an
olive oil press with surrounding olive groves and farm. He
began his love affair with culinary arts by experiencing the
earthy recipes in the mill's kitchen - using fresh produce,
dairy and fowl from the valley of Nievole, emphasized by
the fresh- pressed extra virgin olive oil at harvest time. He
currently teaches Tuscan cuisine in Canada , the United
States, Caribbean and Mexico . Giuseppe's culinary
philosophy has always been to source out organic
produce and unique artisanal products, conveying them to
clients in a pure and authentic way. His quest for
excellence in food and wine has been the basis for his
culinary programs both in Italy and abroad .He is a
certified sommelier of the Italian Sommelier Association, a
Member of the Slow Food movement and experienced
extra virgin olive oil taster.
During this class you will learn about ingredients,
preparation, wine pairing, local salumi and cheeses, and
the way Italians prepare delicious meals! At the end of the
day we will sit down to our feast, and enjoy the fruits of the
days labor, paired with Tuscan wines.
Appetizers
Artichoke timbale with Asiago cheese and fine herbs.
Chianina beef carpaccio with fresh truffle, shaved
Garfagnana goat cheese, micro greens.
Assorted Lucchese cured meats, mixed pates, house
made pickles and potato focaccia.
This was one of the best parts of our two week
vacation. Chef Giuseppe was great. He was very
patient, gracious, extremely knowledgeable and did an
all-around great job. My wife and I were lucky enough
to have the personal attention of the Chef all to
ourselves. The food was outstanding. I do not know
how it could have been any better. The Chef was also
very helpful in making other recommendations for the
rest of our vacation.

Our 1-day cooking class was truly one to remember.
Giuseppe is a fun and enthusiastic instructor and an
amazing cook. When in Italy, be sure to escape from the
touristy areas and experience the Tuscan countryside
and food with Giuseppe.

were able to get a feel for how the Italians cook with
fresh ingredients and make wonderful recipes with the
foods (seasonal) that are available to them. The chef
