The programme was fully research based. I completed the research: Crisis
in the City of Gold: Emplacement, industry, and economic downturn in
Valenza, Italy been supervised by Dr. Matei Candea, Dr. Ben Campbell and
Dr. Paul Saint-Cassia. The ethnographic research was conducted in
Valenza, Italy, and analysed the local experience of the deep recession the
city has experienced since 2008. In particular it explored, from a
grassroots perspective, the local forms of entrepreneurship and work and
the relationship between a community and a form of economy (jewellery
industry) fully interrogating the transformation of the urban space, its
perception, and its regulation.

The two year master offered an comprehensive programmes of taught
modules in Italian linguistics, literature, history and anthropology. The
final dissertation, titled The representation of grape harvest: the grape
festival in Lu between traditions and social complexity, supervised b prof.
Piercarlo Grimaldi, was an ethnographic exploration of the social history
of the “Sagra dell’Uva” festival in Lu, Italy aimed at exploring the link
between this festival and the economic development of the town.
In 2006 I was awarded of an Erasmus scholarship that I used to study
history and Italian linguistics at Adam Mickiewicz university in Poznan,
Poland, from September 2006 to February 2007.

The three years programme offered modules in history of Europe,
literature and anthropology. The final dissertation, supervised by prof.
Piercarlo Grimaldi, was an ethnographic analysis of cult of Saint Valerio in
Lu, Italy, aimed at analysing the structure of its rituals and their social
value.

Social crisis and political and institutional change
The research analyses the link between social crisis, local initiatives and institutional responses. In
particular it examines the relationship citizen – State. The research method combine ethnography
with the applied experience gained as an actor of political movements and institutions.
