2nd Sunday of Lent/ I DOMENICA DI QUARESIMA

LUNGO il suo cammino verso Gerusalemme, dove vivrà
la sua passione morte e risurrezione, Gesù mostra ai
discepoli
un
anticipo
della
sua
gloria.
L’evangelista Luca precisa che il fatto avviene durante la
preghiera: Gesù trova nella sua relazione con il Padre la
forza per affrontare la vita. Appaiono accanto a Gesù
anche Mosè ed Elia, simboli della Legge e dei profeti,
che conversano con lui del suo esodo, del suo cammino
verso la Pasqua. La loro presenza ci racconta che nei
momenti difficili della nostra vita è dalla Sacra Scrittura
che riceviamo conforto e sostegno, come fece Gesù. La
seconda lettura ci mostra l’aspetto più bello dell’evento
narrato dal Vangelo: anche noi saremo trasfigurati. È
questo il nostro destino: non la sfigurazione della morte,
ma la trasfigurazione del nostro corpo che, immerso in
Cristo con il Battesimo, partecipa della sua gloria.
As we reflect on the Transfiguration of Jesus on this Second
Sunday of Lent, let us enter more deeply into the mystery it
opens by choosing to live differently. Let us draw
encouragement from the account of the Transfiguration of
Jesus Christ. Let us respond to the invitations of grace in our
daily lives in order to grow more fully into the image and
likeness of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord revealing His
Transfigured glory to a world waiting to be born anew. Our
Lenten observance is an invitation into an ongoing transformation in Jesus Christ which begins in time and opens up into
eternity.

ne Sunday in a Midwest City, a young child
was "acting up" during the morning worship
hour. The parents did their best to maintain some
sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle.
Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and
walked sternly up the aisle on his way out.
Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the
little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for
me! Pray for me!"
