Gesualdo ha attirato musicologi come Carl
Dahlhaus, Wilhelm Weismann, Glenn Watkins,
Hubert Meister, Anthony Newcomb, tutti presenti
in questo volume che viene a configurarsi come
un’agile e ovviamente incompleta, ma si spera
utile, antologia di importanti saggi apparsi svariati
anni fa su riviste anglosassoni e tedesche con in
più un’introduzione e un contributo italiano finale
dovuto a Barbara Pizzichelli.
Piccolo omaggio dell’ISMEZ a un compositore
assai citato o magnificato – ma in Italia forse
ancora troppo poco studiato ed eseguito – per di
più appartenente a quell’area geografica
dell’Italia che precipuamente interessa l’Istituto.

Gesualdo has attracted the attention of
distinguished musicologists such as Carl Dahlhaus,
Wilhelm Weismann, Glenn Watkins, Hubert
Meister and Anthony Newcomb.These authors
are all present in this publication, which aims at
being an easy and useful (if obviously incomplete)
anthology of significant essays that have
appeared over the years in English and German
magazines; in addition there is an introduction
and a conclusive Italian contribution by Barbara
Pizzichelli.
A modest homage by ISMEZ to a composer
much quoted and esteemed abroad (but perhaps
still insufficiently studied and performed in Italy) in addition a composer who comes from that
geographical area of Italy which is of particular
interest to our Institute.
