Prince Rogers Nelson, noto con il nome d'arte di Prince (Minneapolis, 7 giugno 1958 – Chanhassen, 21 aprile 2016), è stato un cantautore, polistrumentista, compositore, produttore discografico, attore, regista e sceneggiatore statunitense, popolare soprattutto negli anni ottanta e novanta. Il nome Prince deriva dal nome della band dove il padre suonava, ovvero i "Prince Rogers Trio". La vena artistica del cantante di Minneapolis (che compone, arrangia, produce, canta e suona i suoi lavori spesso in totale autonomia) lo ha portato a produrre continuamente nuovi brani, ma anche ad essere tra i pionieri della vendita on-line su Internet: infatti alcuni suoi prodotti sono acquistabili solo dal suo sito. Nel 2004 la rivista Rolling Stone lo ha inserito al 27º posto nella lista dei 100 migliori artisti.
