Hace algún tiempo, vivía e una charca un grupo de
ranas. Entre ellas había una que presumía de ser el
animal más grande de la Tierra. Era verdad que tenía
un buen tamaño, algo superior al de sus compañeras.
Pero como éstas no habían salido nunca de la charca,
no podían decir si aquello era verdad o no. Y, un día
tras otro, tenían que soportar la vanidad de aquella
rana presumida.
Pero he aquí que cierta tarde acertó a pasar por allí un
buey y ser acerco a la orilla a beber. Como la rana
presumida se encontraba en el fondo de charca
durmiendo la siestas entre el barro no pudo verlo. Pero
sí las otras ranas que, en cuanto se despertó y salió a
la superficie, corrieron a decirle:
- Hemos visto un animal, al que llaman buey, y es más
grande que tú.
