Johann Strauß (1825 – 1899) war der erfolgreichste Spross der Wiener
Walzerdynastie. 1867 wurde in dieser Wohnung der weltberühmte Walzer
„An der schönen blauen Donau“ fertiggestellt, die „inoffizielle Hymne“ Österreichs. In der damals eleganten Wiener Vorstadtstraße, der Praterstraße, lebte Strauß sieben Jahre lang. Instrumente, Möbel und Gemälde aus
seinem persönlichem Besitz illustrieren Strauß‘ Wirken als Komponist,
Musiker und Dirigent und zeigen ihn auch als Privatmann.
Johann Strauss (1825 – 1899) was the most successful son of Vienna’s
waltz dynasty. In this apartment in 1867, he composed the world-famous
waltz “The Blue Danube”, Austria‘s “unofficial anthem”. Johann Strauss
lived here for seven years. At the time, Praterstraße was a fashionable and
elegant suburban street. His instruments, furniture and paintings reflect
his work as a composer, musician and conductor, but also show his private
side.
Johann Strauß (1825 – 1899) è stato l‘esponente più celebre della dinastia del valzer viennese. In questo appartamento nel 1867 fu composto il
famosissimo “Sul bel Danubio blu”, l‘inno ufficioso dell‘Austria. Qui, nella
Praterstraße, allora un‘elegante zona periferica viennese, Strauß visse
per sette anni. Gli strumenti musicali, i mobili e i dipinti non solo illustrano
l‘opera di Strauß come compositore, musicista e direttore d‘orchestra, ma
offrono anche uno scorcio sulla sua vita privata.
