Objectives:
Organizations use databases to support everyday operations and to collect information that is then
used for decision making. The course presents the essential aspect of database technology, with
specific reference to database design, querying databases, and database backed data analysis.
Syllabus:
− Database management systems.
− Object-oriented conceptual modeling.
− Database design in the relational data model.
− Introduction to the Structured Query Language SQL: SELECT-FROM-WHERE clauses and
GROUP BY-HAVING clauses.
− Decision support systems based on Data Warehouses and Business Intelligence.
− Data Warehouses design.
− Multidimensional analysis and reporting.
− Case studies.
