ROSE = past tense/passato remoto di “RISE” (sorgere); il
verbo è scelto per creare un gioco di parole, dal momento
che nella prima frase compare la parola “ROSE”(“rosa”).
I PINED OVER YOU = mi struggevo per te, ti
desideravo. Il gioco di parole che si crea è quello della frase
precedente.
ASHED = in realtà doveva dire “ASKED”, ma riprende la
parola “ASH” (cioè “frassino”) della prima frase.
TURNIP = in realtà doveva dire “TURN UP”; ma qui viene usato
“turnip” per creare un gioco di parole, dal momento che nella prima
frase compare la parola “TURNIP”(“rapa”).

“CHRYSANTHEMUM” (crisantemo); ma qui si vuole creare un gioco
di parole, intendendo “Chris e la mamma”.

BEETROOT = doveva dire “BE TRUE” (cioè “essere
sincera”); BEETROOT significa invece “barbabietola”.
SMILE = “sorridere”; ma visti i giochi di parole precedenti,
l’ascoltatore si aspetta che il cantante dica “PEA”, che suona
come “PEE” (cioè “fare la pipì”), cosache renderebbe la frase
comica; ma il fatto che il cantante lo rimpiazzi quasi
all’ultimo momento con “SMILE” è ancora più comico.
FERDY-LIZA = in realtà doveva dire “FERTILIZER”
(fertilizzante); ma qui si vuole creare un gioco di parole,
intendendo “Ferdy and Liza”.
FUNGUS = “fungo”, le cui sillabe –prese da sole- sono
“FUN” (“divertimento”) e “GUS” (che è il nome del
giardiniere). Si crea un gioco di parole estremamente comico.
FUCHSIA = “fucsia”; doveva in realtà dire “FUTURE” (cioè
“futuro”).
