Il complemento oggetto della frase attiva (nell’esempio the thief) diventa il soggetto della frase passiva.
Utilizzando la costruzione passiva si fa risaltare l’oggetto dell’azione e non chi la compie.
La costruzione passiva può essere applicata solo in presenza di un verbo transitivo (cioè che regge
complemento oggetto).
Il complemento d’agente viene introdotto da by (da) o with (con) NB: se il complemento d’agente non è
rilevante può essere omesso.
