Costruzione attiva The police officer arrests the thief Costruzione passiva --> The thief is arrested by the police officer Il complemento oggetto della frase attiva (nell’esempio the thief) diventa il soggetto della frase passiva. Utilizzando la costruzione passiva si fa risaltare l’oggetto dell’azione e non chi la compie. La costruzione passiva può essere applicata solo in presenza di un verbo transitivo (cioè che regge complemento oggetto). Il complemento d’agente viene introdotto da by (da) o with (con) NB: se il complemento d’agente non è rilevante può essere omesso.
