Intermediate Italian
Wednesday, 6:30-8:30pm
This course is designed for those who already have a fair knowledge of the basic Italian
grammar. The goal is the improvement of comprehension, vocabulary and conversational skills,
studying grammar and applying it to every day conversation. The ability of communicating will
be mostly developed through dialogues using main tenses of verbs. Most of the lessons aim to
develop confidence in performance of listening, speaking and reading, using the textbook as a
guiding tool and for review.
Only Italian is spoken by the teacher and among students in class.
A brief preliminary telephone conversation is advisable for those who are not sure if their
language comprehension is appropriate for this class.
In order to successfully complete this course, it is important that you always bring to class:
Textbook (Avanti! 2nd edition), notebook and pen.
Students are expected to complete their homework and review previously covered material
before coming to class. Studying a little bit every day is strongly recommended.
Learning a foreign language requires consistent practice, repetition, and memorization.
