Paola Villa is a labour economist, full professor at the Faculty of Economics,
University of Trento, and a member of the coordinating team for the European
Commission's Expert Group on Gender and Employment (EGGE). She is the
author of numerous studies on labour economics withparticular reference to
internal labour markets; the wage structure;the role of small firms; labour
market regulations and deregulations;gender in the labour market; fertility;
labour force participation andunemployment. She is an expert of gender studies
and equalopportunities policies in a comparative perspective. She has
anextensive record of experience advising the European Commission in thefield
of gender equality and gender mainstreaming
